While some of our mangrove restoration blueprints have taken deep root with visionary partners, many of our most promising visions still await the right tides of collaboration. The proposals below represent our living, ready-to-scale initiatives for corporate stewardship and ecological renewal. We invite forward-thinking organizations to explore these open opportunities and join us in writing a resilient, flourishing chapter for our coastal ecosystems.
Reviving Vypin’s Mangrove Heritage
Grassroute proposes to acquire fallow Pokkali paddy fields on Vypin Island, Kerala, and restore them as a protected forest and botanical garden holding all of Kerala’s mangrove species, which would also serve as a study and research centre. The project would be funded through corporate CSR partnerships, offering companies measurable carbon absorption, ESG and SDG reporting benefits, and employee volunteering opportunities, while restoring local biodiversity, fish stocks and coastal protection.
